The day centre has the purpose of preventing the social exclusion of children and families with an increased risk of social isolation or who are incapable to offer minimum subsistence, upbringing and education conditions through a program of medical, educational, psychological and social services provided within the day centre, it promotes the community-based rehabilitation for the children in difficulty and for the marginalized families by the means of supporting the social partnership as a method of active involvement and of assuming social responsibilities.
50 children and their families benefit of the day centre services. The group’s charactersistics and, implicitly, the selection criteria are: the parent’s lack of material resources, increased risk of negligence and abuse over the children, the lack of an adequate home, the risk for the chidren to become street arabs, pre-delinquent conduct and behavioral disorders, school abandonment and non-participation in school activities, poor medical assistance.
The Centre offers educational conditions and „social control” to children coming from under-privileged environments, in order to keep them away in their most vulnerable period from street „attractions”, from neighbourhood subculture, from the invasion of vulgarity, from ignorance and intellectual laziness, which would later produce the adult having no labour appetite, a lifelong subscriber to welfare and to State protection.
