History
The foundation’s legal framework and history:
• The foundation was established in 1996, as a result of the will of 21 founder members, materialized in the Incorporation Deed of 30th June 1996 and sanctioned through the Judgment in civil matters no. 194 / 27th November 1996, registered under the Register of foundations
• The foundation’s initial name was Stavropoleos Foundation, named after the Stavropoleos Parish, next to which is was established
• After a few years of collaboration between the Stavropoleos Parish and the Concordia Humanitarian Organization, the Collaboration agreement no. 23/11th February 1998 was concluded, with the purpose of establishing together with the Capital’s City Hall the Saint Dimitrie Social Centre for Children
• As a result of this agreement, on 19th March 1998 the Saint Dimitrie Social Centre for Children was inaugurated in 50 Matei Basarab street, 3rd district.
• In 2001, pursuant to the enforcement of the Government Ordinance no. 26/2000, the Board of administration decided and voted the amendment of the Statute of the Stavropoleos Foundation and the composition modification of the Board of Directors
• Taking into account the diversification of the social work activity of the Saint Dimtrie Social Centre, as well as the envisaged statute change of the Stavropoleos Parish, which would have become a monastery, the foundation detaches of the Stavropoleos Parish through the resolution of the Board of Directors and becomes the SAINT DIMITRIE FOUNDATION through the Judgment no. 71/30th May 2003, headquartered in 50 Matei Basarab street, 3rd district
• The foundation is registered in the Register of foundations and associations under no. 178/1996, The Court of 3rd District
• The foundation’s taxpayer identification number is 9164120
• The composition of the Board of Directors is modified through the Judgment no. 144/24th October 2003, under the management of a new president, in the person of Mister Mihail Cristian Vasile
• The Saint Dimitrie Foundation is a member of the Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations for the Child Protection
• In 2005 the Foundation submitted the file necessary for obtaining the accreditation as a social services provider. Through the Decision no. 6 / 25th October 2005, the St. Dimitrie Foundation was accredited by the Accrediting Committee for Social Services Providers of Bucharest City to carry on activities in the field of Child protection
